The first practitioner I have found is Hans K Clausen. He is more of a Site Specific Artist but I have a few ideas brewing in the back of my mind which have been inspired by his work.

The first image that attracted me was his piece called “Close“, it reminded me very much of one of the videos that we watched in class where people placed themselves in awkward angles with everyday unnoticeable surrounds.

Then after searching through his site, a few other images sprang out to me. “Skipping“, a really charming image of a small model skip placed among a pile of rubbish. I never knowingly pass by a skip without taking a look inside, all manner of treasures may lurk within. My interest is now not only in their contents … I’m taking a second look at their form, function and personality!

The main image though that jumped out at me was “Significant in the Insignificant“. Daniel told us to collect things on our walk that relate to Lincoln, this piece reminded me of that. Clausen has everyday junk displayed in individual plastic wallets on a white board to get the observer to actually notice the items they randomly discard. INSPIRATIONAL!!!
Let the site inspire you.
